Day 1: Sharing about City

In this discussion room, there are three topics of discussion. The first is a discussion on 'Urban Design Based on Rainwater Management: Introduction and Role of Low Impact Development' by Khairani Rizki S. He discusses how an urban area adapts to rainwater-based water management. He stressed that the transition from the current system to a more sustainable system requires a long process, but it can happen if all the groups involved work together. However, this rainwater management concept should be evaluated further and developed according to local conditions.

Sabila Khadijah presented the second discussion is about  'Creative City: A Challenge After Pandemic'. Sabila researched the impact of the pandemic on creative cities in Indonesia. The results show that creative cities are greatly affected because they rely greatly on the arts and tourism industry for their economy. He also provided recommendations for creative cities to take advantage of digital platforms and provided suggestions so that the arts or tourism sector could collaborate with several other sectors that were less affected.

The third topic, entitled 'The Role of Space Syntax Modeling in Land Use Planning', was presented by Annisaa Windahasanah. From the case study conducted by Annisaa, the results show that the space syntax modeling method has many functions as an area planning material to follow the actual conditions (design by evidence). For example, when we want to build a public facility, we can choose a high local and global integration point. Space syntax modeling can also show the point of congestion so that it becomes the material for making traffic engineering around that point.

Then how do the panelists respond?

Special panelists, namely Dr. Tri Mulyani Sunarharum, S.T. (PWK UGM lecturer) was also present in the discussion room. She really appreciated today's discussion because it was very interesting for her. For the first discussion, Mrs. Yani emphasized the techniques for implementing LID, which must be studied and weighed against their effectiveness. For the second discussion, Mrs. Yani wanted to know more about the scheme from the various suggestions that the presenters had made. In the discussion of the last topic, Mrs. Yani gave an opinion on the questionnaire method that can show the perception of various age groups to complete the space syntax modeling method that has been carried out.
